REGION 6 DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

ree

Dear Members and Volunteers, As we prepare to celebrate the Fourth of July, I’d like to take this opportunity to share a mid-year update on my journey as Region 6 Director. First and foremost, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Region Directors who welcomed both me and Director-Elect Scott Tamashiro to their meetings. These collaborative exchanges have been invaluable—allowing us to showcase Region 6’s member-led initiatives, such as the Rising Stars Conference in Las Vegas. I’m especially excited that this inspired Region 9 to launch its own LATAM Rising Stars Conference in Panama City, scheduled for August 15–16. These cross-regional connections are a testament to the strength of our shared vision—One IEEE. Thanks to your collective efforts, Region 6 has made significant strides in the first half of the year. We’ve launched new Affinity Groups and Student Branches, reenergized student and Young Professional engagement, and proudly elevated over 1,000 members to Senior Member status. As July and August bring some well-deserved time with loved ones, I am looking forward to the launch of the new Region 6 website. We’ll continue deepening our partnerships with academia and industry to amplify the incredible work of our volunteers. A special thank you to everyone who reached out with interest in volunteering. I hope your new roles within local Sections are proving to be both meaningful and energizing. As always, I welcome your ideas, feedback, and questions. Feel free to reach out to me anytime at joseph.wei@ieee.org. Imagine the possibility of our collective impact working as One IEEE

-Joseph Wei
